Elizabeth Perone, VMD
Elizabeth Perone is the
most recent addition to the staff at
Hickory
Veterinary
Hospital
as an emergency and general practice
veterinarian.
Elizabeth
graduated from University of Pennsylvania
School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 and completed a rotating internship
in medicine, surgery and emergency at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Services in
New York City
in 2006. Her interests include
dermatology, dentistry and geriatric medicine. Dr. Perone shares her home
with Sadie, Fitty and Max her 3 cats as well as Rigby her dog. In her
spare time she enjoys traveling, reading, cooking and going to the gym.
Cady Lyons, DVM
Dr. Lyons joined the staff
at
Hickory
Veterinary
Hospital
as a full time general practice
veterinarian in 2006. She graduated from Tufts University School of
Veterinary Medicine in 1986 and started her career practicing dairy and
companion animal medicine for 5 years before moving to
Maine
. After working at a small animal clinic in
central
Maine
for 5 years Dr. Lyons and another
colleague established their own mixed animal practice which they owned for
10 years. In 2005 Cady married George Lyons, a historic preservationist
and the couple relocated to
Philadelphia
when George accepted a position as
Executive Director of the Chestnut Hill Historical Society. Dr. Lyons
enjoys hiking, ocean kayaking and just spending time traveling with her
husband. She also enjoys the company of her 2 dogs and 4 cats.
Vanessa Olenick, DVM
Dr. Vanessa Olenick, who recently joined the
general practice team at
Hickory
Veterinary
Hospital
, earned her DVM from New York State College of
Veterinary Medicine at
Cornell
University
(2004) where extracurricular activities included
coordinating the Pet Loss Support Hotline and volunteering in the Community
Practice Service. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Olenick spent two
years in
New Jersey
where she worked as both a general practitioner
and an emergency clinician. Originally from
Melbourne
,
Australia
, she moved to
New York City
in 1991 and worked in law, finance and education
before making a mid-life career change into veterinary medicine. Dr. Olenick is
now comfortably settled in the Greater Philadelphia region with her two Soft
Coated Wheaten Terriers, two Retriever crosses and six Domestic Shorthair cats
(yikes!).
Dr. Olenick’s special veterinary interests
include internal medicine, ophthalmology, complementary medicine and the
human-animal bond.
When away from the hospital and her bottomless
pile of professional journals, Dr. Olenick enjoys reading, cooking, jigsaw
puzzles, horseback riding, hiking and dabbling in a little bit of gardening.
