Tabitha Hutton, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM)

Dr. Tabitha Hutton received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University (concentrating in biology) in 1998, and her DVM from Cornell University in 2002. She then completed a rotating small animal internship at Colorado State University in 2003. Her small animal internal medicine residency was at Cornell University from 2003-2005, and thereafter she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialty of Small Animal Internal Medicine.

Dr. Hutton joins our practice in August 2010 after working at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania for 5 years, including 2 years of exclusively clinical service and 3 of an infectious disease research fellowship (during which time she continued part-time clinical duties). She also participated in the Masters in Translational Research program through the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine, and will be defending her thesis this fall. Dr. Hutton’s clinical interests include nephrology and infectious diseases of dogs and cats, and her research interests include virulence factors and antimicrobial resistance in Escherichia coli that infect the urinary system.

In her spare time, Dr. Hutton enjoys spending time with her husband, her daughter, and her yellow Labrador Retriever, Scotia, who she obtained through breed rescue a few years ago. Her hobbies include photography, reading, gardening, puzzles (crossword and jigsaw), crochet, travel and volunteer work.
