Pet Loss and Bereavement

Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital understands that the loss of a pet is an emotional and very painful experience. Grief over the loss of a pet is natural and healthy. Our pets are a significant and constant part of our lives. Pets provide companionship, comfort and unconditional love. Our staff members are also pet owners who have experienced the joys of the human-animal bond and mourned the passing of beloved animal companions.

There are always people who do not understand the strong connection people and animals have and therefore, cannot relate to the pain felt after their loss. Some pet owners are fortunate to have friends and family who are supportive during the grieving process; others may need to seek out the support of people who understand the pain of pet loss.

Gentle eyes that see so much, paws that have that quiet touch. Purrs to signal ‘all is well’ and show more love than words can tell. Graceful movements touched with pride, a calming presence by your side. A friendship that will last and grow – small wonder why we love them so.
